Curating Experiences & Spaces

Argyle Museum of Memories

This is an on-going, roving installation that collects snippets of memories tied to Uptown’s multicultural Argyle Street area. Rich with immigrant-owned pan-Asian businesses, its been undergoing gentrification for decades and is now on the cusp of rapid change.

This work seeks to undo the   area’s placemaking into an Asian-themed destination and protect & archive memories of a very special place.

Bronzeville Pop-Up Paint Party

As part of the annual Bronzeville Summer Nights event series, I collaborated with Bronzeville artist & urban planner Katanya Raby for an evening of art and culture. The event drew kids and adults – many of whom remarked on not having imagined being able to do something like it on the street.

Vision Zero Pop-Up Oasis at the Lawndale 5K

As part of my work on Vision Zero Chicago’s West Side outreach, I designed and helped plan a block-long pop-up oasis at the annual Lawndale 5K. The Oasis included a seating area, live painting, mini-massages, activities from Divvy Bikes and Active Transportation Alliance, plus Vision Zero kiosks, swag, and “Design a Street” activity.

The event aimed to get locals to rething streets as places for people, not just cars – and to recruit them as advocates to reach Vision Zero’s goals.
